Jicarilla Hunt - Wednesday, July 18, 2018

It has been HOT. Lucky we are receiving some much needed monsoon activity. Of course with the monsoon comes mud, lightning, and all sorts of other fun stuff.

I have received no fishing reports.

If you are planning a trip please be mindful of muddy roads, and afternoon thunder showers. This weekend is The Little Beaver Celebration here in Dulce. So please be prepared for larger than usual crowds in and around town, as well as camping at the lakes.

Stay out of the heat!

Jicarilla Hunt - Tuesday, July 03, 2018

I have received no fishing reports this week. Weeds at Mundo are rising, especially near shore and some anglers find that problematic, especially when using sinkers.Temperatures are EXTREMELY HOT. Water temperatures are very warm, and are high enough to reduce trout activity and eating. Its time to focus on warm water species. Many regional fisheries managers are recommending voluntary cold water species fishing closures (https://alamosanews.com/article/slv-trout-unlimited-requests-voluntary-fishing-restrictions-in-valley-rivers-and-streams).

I know everyone wants to camp over the Fourth, camping is first come first served, and we are under an extreme fire danger warning. No open flames outside private dwellings. Please be considerate of the consequences of carelessness.

Happy Fourth of July!
