Jicarilla Hunt - Wednesday, October 26, 2016

For the big Muley nuts out there! Kendra White tagged a true giant on opening day of the 2016 Tribal Hunt. The buck has an inside spread of 31", and 50" of extras! Congratulations to Kendra on a buck of a lifetime and the largest buck killed on the Jicarilla Apache Nation in over a decade!

I am a firm believer that September in the woods is a great place to be! Here are a few pictures that support my position. Enjoy!

Pending NM State Record Black Bear

Jicarilla Hunt - Wednesday, September 28, 2016

Big News!

A black bear harvested this Spring on the Jicarilla Apache Nation has been measured by a B&C official measurer in Texas to be the new NM State Record.  The score of 23 1/16 surpasses the old record by a whopping 1 2/16"! As it stands, this black bear would be in the top 10 in the world.

Congratulations to the hunter Thomas B. Lyne III, and his Jicarilla guide Duane Callado.

Hope your fall is going well!

Youth or Experience?

Jicarilla Hunt - Wednesday, November 26, 2014

This hunting season has yielded some exceptional animals. A couple of which were harvested by Jicarilla Tribal Member Youth who have attended and successfully completed the NM Hunters Safety Certification Program held by the Department. Kudos to all who are involved in getting youth involved in the outdoors and congratulations to these 2 lucky (and skilled) hunters.

Happy Thanksgiving,

Bucks and Bulls

Jicarilla Hunt - Wednesday, October 29, 2014

Hello all,

I am proud to report another good year for Horse Lake Mesa Bull Elk and Tribal Deer Hunts. Despite ongoing drought, we have managed to grow and harvest some magnificent animals. Check out our photo gallery for up-to-date photos. Below is a buck that came in yesterday that scored a whopping 200 1/8 gross as a 3x4!

I love this time of year!

There is nothing better to do in Spring than chase gobblers, and in my opinion, no better place to hunt a Merriams than the Jicarilla!

Wrapping Hunting Season Up

Jicarilla Hunt - Monday, December 30, 2013

Many thanks to the clients who hunted the Jicarilla Apache Nation in 2013! Despite drought conditions, 2013 hunts went well, with high success on many tremendous animals, including several world-class Mule deer, mature bulls, and freezer filling cow elk hunts. Not to forget, lion, bears, turkeys and waterfowl.

Our photo gallery is constantly being updated as photos become available. The most recent is a great bull from our late season bull elk hunt, going on right now, as well as our Tribal Member Cooper-Neil Archery Mule deer hunt.

Seasons Greetings and a Prosperous New Year!
